Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is predominantly a ground fighting art focussing on submission holds with joint-locks and chokeholds. The premise is that a smaller and weaker person is able to overcome a larger and stronger opponent whose advantages are neutralised against a jiu-jitsu opponent when grappling on the ground. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is an efficient self-defence art and an extraordinary way of exercising, while developing a wide range of qualities such as; humility, discipline, respect, increased self-esteem, concentration, body awareness and balance.
