Our family have been training at Combat and Exercise for the last 3 years. We have found the club to be very friendly and welcoming. The club offers a great variety of classes for our family. Our son enjoys the children’s kickboxing classes which have increased his level of fitness, taught him self respect and discipline. This has not only had a positive affect on his attitude in the classes but also outside of the sessions. We enjoy a range of classes including Brazilian Jui Jitsu, Mixed Martial Arts, Submission Grappling and Ladies Fitness and Self Defence. The classes have increased our health and fitness and have been a great motivation to learn new skills.
I've tried many different types of fitness classes for so many years with very little success in noticeable results. For someone who lacks in motivation and confidence I have always found it difficult to commit to any kind fitness regime I needed to invest in a proper training scheme that motivated me and challenged me. I found this once I started ladies kick boxing at combat and exercise in 2017 with Rich Yeomans I find Rich challenges me and he knows my capabilities and how much more I can do than i do. He is very intuitive and so easy to work with and each session remains challenging for me. Since starting my training with Rich i have not only noticed the physical changes in my body shape, weight and fitness i have also gained more energy and stamina. Its has also improved my mental health and overall confidence. Rich is a great personal trainer and a truly remarkable friend who understands my needs and knows how to motivate and encourage me.
Having decided that I wanted to try boxing, a quick search told me that The Combat and Exercise Centre was the place to go. I turned up on my own, terrified about what I was getting myself in to. Would I be fit enough, or strong enough? Would I ruin people's training whilst they put up with 'the new girl'? Would people laugh at me for thinking a small girl like me would have any chance in a combat gym, especially in a boxing class? I very quickly learned that my fears were for nothing - I was instantly made to feel welcome, loved the experience and left an hour later, buzzing, and excited to come back for another go. Now, 8 years later, the place is like a second home. I'm stronger, healthier and more confident in my abilities both physically and mentally. I've made a lot of friends through this gym and have never in those 8 years felt judged or discouraged by anybody else. I've tried boxing, Muay Thai, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, weightlifting, powerlifting, and strength & conditioning with highly experienced coaches, attended classes as well as private one-to-one sessions, trained at various times of the day depending on what I needed, and have trained there every day of the week - just not all in the same week! I have no desire to train anywhere else now, and to be fair, there is nowhere else that offers the same training opportunities and expertise under one roof as The Combat and Exercise Centre.
I have been visiting the combat and exercise gym regularly since last year and I am very happy with the organisation of the gym as well as how easy it is to use the equipment. The staff are always friendly and more than happy to assist me when help is needed and the trainers are very good at adapting training styles to assist my very busy lifestyle and my exercise plan. Thank you for proving such a pleasant and safe environment for me to train in.
